poetry

Cicada Songs is a poetry chapbook that examines how the worlds we inhabit create repetitions in our lives like that of the relentless summer song of the cicada. The poems are all centered around survival in the south, a broad exploration of space that allows for the collection to move fluidly between politics, nature, motherhood, sexism, religion, and family. It is poetry that asks about the habits we have, the beliefs we hold, and how we grapple with choosing to keep them or choosing to walk away to sing a different song.
